Every once in a while I'll find a note on the kitchen table, or beside Mother Lore's chair. I know the note is in reference to something that she's been thinking about or was not able to do.
These few notes written in her own hand, are the hundreds of notes that she wanted to write to say "Thank You". .....
.....for the visitors, the Birthday Party, the gulabjamens, the lunch invitations, the tangerines, the picture of her son and herself, the flowers, the balloons, the fruit basket, the pretty plants, the Christmas cake, the almonds, the tea, the green papayas, Christmas presents, the soup, the rasgullas, the warm shawl, the travel videos, cards, the dokla, cookies, pizza, waffles, the sweater, bags of groceries, the tv, gift cards, a new birthday dress, new nightie, and..... the friendship & love......
Today, after we had some visitors, she said, "It's nice that we're making new friends."

Mother Lore has a very proper etiquette attitude. If she comes to realize that something was a gift, she always asks, "Did I say Thank You?" or "I must write a note and say Thank You."
After her Birthday party, we tried to write notes, but the task was too daunting for her. She sat at the kitchen table and struggled to write a short note for 2 hours.

I told her the 'modern way' was to send an email . Just send 1 letter and everyone gets it.
So here is a very belated thanks for her Birthday Party, from a very bad servant. I won't try to excuse the tardiness of a 'thank you note' by saying better 'late than never'.
The part that is ..'in her own words' ...took an hour for us to compose.
Dear Dallas and Houston Devotees
Hare Krsna. My obeisances. All glories to Sri Guru and Gauranga.
On behalf of Lore I would like to extend sincere thanks to everyone who made her 92nd Birthday a very memorable on. It was a big event for her to comprehend. We've tried on several occasions to put together a "Thank You " note. ...and only get a few lines together before confusion and exhaustion set in. She's expressed many times "We must say thank you" or "Who gave that to me...we'll have to send a note." We watch the Birthday balloons that are still floating but starting to nod and drop. They've been a constance source of conversation and reminder that the occasion was celebrated. It really is the simple things!
In her own words Mother Lore says...
My thanks for making this, my 92nd birthday such a wonderful occasion. I am ever so appreciative of your beautiful gifts and flowers.
With love and thanks again,
Lore Garrick
ps please feel welcome to visit Lore at anytime.
