The weather in Houston has been cool and breezy this week . Not really very suitable for Lore to be outside. One morning, we were able to sit outside for a short time and catch a bit of sun. I was sitting on the porch swing and Lore was seated on the bench. Then, without a word, she got up and put out her hand for me to take, so that she could come sit next to me. I steadied the swing and she sat down. Once she had settled herself, she started to move her legs up and down to get the swing moving. So, together we 'pumped' our legs to get a nice ride.
Sometimes she looks like a child to me...and I can imagine what she must have been like as a a little girl.

This afternoon was sunny and we were able to take a wheelchair/walk. We stopped to pick flowers as usual and gathered a bouquet. She was really happy to be outside and at one point said "You are giving me a beautiful day."
And I'm thinking... "No, you are giving me a beautiful day."
Along the way, we stopped to look at a small jumping bug with spotted wings and marveled at the variety in God's/Krsna's nature. Then the bug stopped jumping and Lore carefully put out her cane to give the bug a gentle nudge. Then said, "I don't want to hurt him."
We went up and down the street and then over to the temple. When we went past the temple entrance she asked if we were going inside and I told her no, that it was closed for a few hours in the afternoon. She said "Good. Because I want to be outside. You are giving me the ride of my life."
On our way to and from the temple, she admired the temple domes and said, "I just love those....." and she followed the shape of the domes with her hand to finish the sentence.
I see Lore appreciating "God the Creator" thru Nature, the beauty of a flower, kindness to a small bug and with the love that she gave to her child Thomas, who would grow up and later be re-named as Tamal Krsna das.
It's not a small thing that she embraced his initiated name and always refers to him as "Tamal." It's to her credit that she respected his choice in life to serve Srila Prabupada. There are many parents who don't.
